New report
on beneficiary follow-up:
The
National Institute for Immunization and Survival has continued its technical
and promotional cooperation with beneficiaries after the end of the 10-month
project.
The
project, supported by Yuan Women Foundation, provided carpet weaving training,
small business training, women's rights, healthy family life and hygiene for 54
women from June 15, 2024 to April 15, 2025.
The
beneficiaries effectively utilized all parts of the training, and in summary,
the results are as follows:
1. 1-Learning new carpet weaving techniques
2. 2-Access to carpet markets, raw materials,
and other carpet weaving supplies
3. 3-Financial independence and moving towards
small businesses
4. -4Hope for survival and daily living
5. -5Ensuring the future for their own and their families' expenses
6. 6-Knowing equal rights and gender equality
7. 7-Healthy family behaviors for peace in
families
8. 8-Education about safe hygiene methods,
healthy foods, and daily exercise
9. 9- Multi-day practices to inspire and
introduce customers to the carpet sector
10-Giving courage in future business and
morale for investment growth.
These practices
were successfully completed according to the schedule. The best carpets were
woven by the beneficiaries and sold. According to the plan and commitment of
this institution, the money from the sale of the carpets was allocated to the
beneficiaries. The carpet workshops were also transferred to their homes by the
beneficiaries.
After the
project ended, this organization has continued its technical support and
encouragement to the beneficiaries until today. Our organization is in constant
contact with the beneficiaries through WhatsApp groups. During this period, we
have visited each team's workshops 5 times.
These
communications have given the beneficiaries more morale.
The employees of the immunity and Survivals National Organization were
asked about their achievements and benefits. The beneficiaries are happy with
their monthly income, and are satisfied with their continued employment so far.
They reported their average monthly income to be around 6,000 Afghanis per
month. Since the training ended, the beneficiaries have acquired good skills
and have woven or are currently weaving better and more fashionable patterns.
The beneficial part of this program was that they have an independent workshop,
and they prepare raw materials and patterns according to the current fashion.
Demands of the beneficiaries and other women working in the carpet
industry:
Although these women are satisfied with financial independence, to
improve their income and complete independence in the carpet weaving industry
and other handicrafts in which women play a major role; they have demanded a
carpet processing and washing factory that is managed entirely by women. Also,
along with this workshop, shops and handicraft exhibitions should be built
where women can sell the goods they produce and the raw materials for
production.
Even for finding markets and selling abroad, women should have the main
share. That is, the raw materials process, production and sales should all be
in the hands of women.
The immunity and Survivals National Organization has regular plans in
place to implement this plan. We hope that it will be taken into account by aid
organizations, especially UN Women.
